Version 2.5 of the Piavet app for iOS is here! It was released alongside the much-anticipated version 4.0 of the WebApp because they share one big thing in common: new chart technology and recording trend visuals! Scroll down if you’re already familiar with the Piavet System. But if not, here’s a short introduction.
The Piavet System – A Quick Look
The Piavet System‘s main components—the Piavet Measuring Device, Piavet Belt, Piavet Base Station and Piavet Platform—work together to provide real-time, non-invasive, remote access to patient vital signs.
The durable hardware and comfortable surcingle enable long-term recordings of ECG, RR intervals, heart rate, respiratory rate, body temperature, and activity. The data is then made available on our software platform. Simply log in to your account to access live or past recordings, collaborate with colleagues, and more!

The Piavet App for iOS
The Piavet iOS app allows equine veterinarians and practitioners to easily start and stop recordings, view real-time and historical health data, and access patient and client information on an iPad or iPhone. The app enables true remote monitoring with the Piavet System, giving you objective, uninfluenced insights into patient health, day or night, without disturbance.
With the Piavet app, you can take your patients on the go and also give vet techs more flexibility and peace of mind during their rounds. Remote monitoring saves valuable time by reducing control intervals, saves money by reducing material costs (e.g. fewer trips into isolation stalls), and gives patients more rest by providing uninfluenced, objective data without entering the stall.
Piavet App Version 2.5
Version 2.5 of the Piavet app brings new chart technology and recording trend visuals, and of course, exciting new functionality. Piavet Users can look forward to a seamless transition from a desktop or laptop to their iOS mobile device without missing a beat (or a breath)!
This new release brings a whole new way to visualize vital sign data and trends. Whereas trends in previous versions were based on 20-second windows in the data, this new version’s data trends are based on the full measurement, which are now automatically refreshed every 30 seconds during a live recording. In addition, 2.5 has smooth ECG drawing and buffering for easier analysis. These new charts on iOS have been released next to the existing charts as beta, and users can easily collapse and expand the new section as needed.

New Charts
Recording Chart
The new charts on the iOS app are not only lovely to look at, but full of functionality as well. Graphical measurement data is now visible above the ECG Chart, showing data trends for all parameters. The name of the recording is also now displayed for easy reference.
Measurement Notes
Another new feature for iPhone (that is already available on iPad) is the ability to see a list of your measurement notes and attachment quality. In addition, you can now click directly in the ECG chart to add a note to a specific point in the recording. This makes it even easier for vets and vet techs to be on-the-go around the clinic or off site without losing out on important indicators when later analyzing the data.
Manually Filter Out High-peak Artifacts
An update to both the iPhone and iPad apps that our vets are particularly anticipating is the ability to manually filter out high-peak artifacts. When electrical input from excessive movement makes the ECG appear flat (up to 100mv artifacts), vets can now simple toggle “Set ECG limit” to set the max to 10mv and the min to -10mv. This will improve the appearance of the ECG and make analysis easier.
Home Screen App Icon Actions
Another feature that makes our mobile platform easy to use is new quick actions on the home screen icon. With this new release, you can simply press and hold the Piavet app icon to see notifications, start a measurement, add a patient, and send Beta feedback. Just another way we’re trying to make things easier for our Piavet Users!
IMPORTANT: This update can take up to 24 hours to hit the App Store. Also, updates may not be automatic, depending on your settings. So if you do not see the new charts on your Piavet app, head to the App Store now to get the latest version!
