The Piavet Platform web application version 3.18 was released today and it comes packed with new features and improvements to help vets and veterinary staff manage patient care with ease. Many elements of this release come as a direct result of the collaboration between the PiaTeam and our Piavet Users via the Piavet User and Vet Boards. We are proud to support vets with a digital, remote solution for patient monitoring, and our Piavet Community understands the value of helping shape the future of technology in their field.
The Piavet System – A Quick Look
The Piavet System‘s main components—the Piavet Measuring Device, Piavet Belt, Piavet Base Station, and Piavet Platform—work together to provide real-time, non-invasive, remote access to patient vital signs.
The durable hardware and comfortable surcingle enable long-term recordings of ECG, R-R intervals, heart rate, respiratory rate, body temperature, and activity. The data is then made available on our software platform. Simply log in to your account from any device to access live or past recordings, collaborate with colleagues, and more!

Users can now easily contact customer support directly from the Piavet Platform. After logging in, go to the top menu to find a new envelope icon. Simply click the icon, enter your name and question, and hit submit—easy peasy!

Enable default alert parameters with one click
Before this release, users would individually set parameters for heart rate, respiration rate, and temperature when starting a new measurement. But now we have a default alert setting for each vital sign, which can all be enabled at once by toggling Set default alarms. The platform defaults are set to the following:
– Heart rate: 28–40 bpm
– Respiration rate: 8–16 breaths/minute
– Temperature: 99.1–100.4 degrees F (37.3–38 degrees C)
It’s important to note that these are standardized preset defaults for adult horses. You can still adjust the parameters for each value after toggling on the default alerts. The toggle will automatically turn off when adjusting the presets. This ability to enable alerts with one click lets you start measurements more quickly, and provides a standard range for most of your monitoring needs.

Automatic measurement notes for set or adjusted alerts
Another helpful new feature is the ability to see set and updated alerts during a running measurement. This means that even if no alerts have been triggered, users can see their set alerts and if any have been updated, right in the side panel of both running and finished recordings. But keep in mind, that after changing an alert parameter during a running measurement, the 15-minute time window needed to calculate the triggered alerts will be reset.
In addition, with the release of version 3.18, you can now also see what alert parameters were configured for your measurements directly on the patient timeline.

Performance and stability improvements
Every release is like an iceberg. There is a list of exciting things that the user can see and use, but an even bigger list of backend changes under the surface that the user is not aware of. However, these other things are what provide the foundation and stability for a software solution. The things listed in this article were part of a list of 50 other changes. Needless to say, this release was an iceberg! From bug fixes to platform-generated emails for users, our Product Team worked their haunches off to bring version 3.18 to life.
